Those whom God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son.

Romans 8:29 (ESV)

[God] predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.

Ephesians 1:5-6 (ESV)

Biblical predestination does not imply that God chooses to save some people while ignoring others. Rather, it is about God choosing or predestining everyone to be conformed to the image of His Son before the foundation of the world. The Greek word for “predestination” is proorizō which means “to design definitely beforehand, to ordain beforehand”. This means God has freely chosen and marked us for sonship even before we were born.

According to the Apostle Paul, God can sovereignly draw all people to Himself since He has predestined us to be in Christ. Such is the mystery of His amazing love for us.

God has already done everything through Jesus for our salvation and for us to come freely to Him (Ephesians 2:8-9). If we genuinely grasped the gospel, it would be difficult to reject such a glorious gift of salvation. His Spirit interacts with our free will without violating it, enabling us to believe and have faith for our salvation. In other words, God chose us to choose Him.

While we are children of God through creation, we have been given a new spirit and grace of sonship through redemption. The more we walk in the revelation of our sonship, the more we act and behave in accordance with who we are and have in Christ. We have no fear of deficiency or lack in our prayers, serving and giving because the fullness of our sonship in Christ enables us to do what His Spirit says.
