And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren. For with God nothing will be impossible.” Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.”
Luke 1:35-38
After being comforted by the Angel Gabriel, Mary was no longer troubled, and she even said "yes" straight away. Mary said yes—not because Gabriel had explained every detail to her about what to expect when she was expecting or promised her everything was going to be alright. Mary said yes because she knew, no matter where life takes her, she will never fall out of favour with God.
As God chose Mary, Mary chose God.
Things were going to be different and difficult—after she accepted God's will for her.
Mary has to endure rumour about her reputation and worry how Joseph will respond to the news of her pregnancy. Moreover, she knew right from the start that she was giving birth to a Son who will someday die as the Saviour. In other words, God not only interrupted Mary's life, but He redirected how she will live out the rest of her life.
The story of Mary raised a crucial question:"How willing are you to let God interrupt your life anytime He wants?"
Most of us don't like interruptions—and how much more divine interruptions. Consider this: What makes you the exception if there has never been a biblical character who achieved something for God without their lives being interrupted by God? Even Jesus had to deal with interruptions and most times, those so-called unwarranted interruptions became wonderful opportunities for Him to meet real needs.
If you want to be where God wants you to be, then you need to expect and accept a certain degree of divine interruptions.
You need to realise divine interruptions are God's way of taking us from our often busy lives back to the first purpose of our being. That is, the privilege to know God and worship Him. When you understand this truth and live according to it, you will become fruitful and productive as you endeavour to believe and serve God. The journey will have difficult moments and difficult seasons, but God is with you always and all through your life.
