Satan can put thoughts in your mind, just as he did with Adam and Eve. His deceptive thoughts are lies mixed with half-truths, twisted to mislead, and harm you, particularly in your relationship with God. If you do not stay in the revelation of your identity in Christ, you will easily become discouraged and defeated.
Keep in mind that Satan often speaks with a tone of shame and insinuation, and his one big lie is that you are somehow lacking or not good enough, and that you must constantly "improve" for God to love you. If you do not distinguish between what you hear and believe from God's word, Satan's accusations and condemning thoughts can lead to self-hatred and feelings of helplessness. condemning thoughts can lead to self-loathing and feelings of helplessness.
One of the most effective ways to overcome Satan's lies is to consistently and constantly meditate on the truth of God's Word. The Apostle John tells us:
Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!
1 John 3:1 (NKJV)
God's love is the basis on which you enjoy a healthy spiritual life.
To behold is to see, consider, and affirm. Open your eyes and heart to how much God loves you and has demonstrated this by receiving you as His beloved child. There is no greater blessing than knowing you are God's, and the devil cannot take it away. This is why Satan must deceive and lie to keep you from being and becoming the person God created in Christ! Feast on God's Word and you will starve all of Satan's lies.
