Have you ever questioned why God does not appear to answer your prayers or grant your every request? Instead of feeling dissatisfied or disillusioned with God, you should understand what God's heart is for us. The truth is that God offers you a lot more.

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.

Ephesians 3:20 (NKJV)

It is useful to understand the distinction between believing for something and believing in someone. If your definition of prayer revolves around believing for something, it becomes a work on your part. Here, you want God to do His part since you have already done yours. This is what we referred to as "putting faith in your faith.” When you do not get what you want, you begin to question God's love and faithfulness. However, when you see prayer as believing in God, you will find rest and peace.

God has already DONE everything for us in Christ, and all we have to do now is take hold of it. We do not need to figure out how or what to pray—just pray and believe God “who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think."

Take comfort that God does not respond to you based on your scales of needs; doing so limits Him. Just call out, “Abba Father” (Romans 8:15; Galatians 4:6) and believe that God will not just provide for your needs but will add all things to you (Matthew 6:33).
