The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.

Galatians 5:22-23 (NKJV)

The more we walk with God, the more we want to be like Him.

Indeed, in Christ, we already have love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control inside us. However, we can produce more and more fruit of His qualities, as we abide in Him. Thus, we can still ask the Holy Spirit to increase our fullness and fruitfulness. Such prayer is a sign of maturity, and it signifies sonship and oneness with God.

We don’t pray from a place of lack. After all, we have been given all things in Christ. Instead, we pray from our place of identity and inheritance in Christ. Praying from this revelation unleashes faith and allows us to rejoice in God regardless of our circumstances. Being empowered in the Spirit enables us to show love when others sow hate; to stir up joy when others are feeling cast down and to bring peace when others breed chaos. In other words, God offers us opportunities to manifest and demonstrate His character in our daily lives so that people may know Christ is in us.
