Jesus said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the labourers are few. Therefore, pray the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into His harvest.” And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease.
Matthew 9-37-38; 10:1 (NKJV)
The kingdom of God is one of empowerment rather than domination.
As Jesus' disciples, we have been given authority and power to advance and establish His kingdom purpose rather than our own personal interests. Some, of course, will use the gospel for selfish gain and greed, bringing disrepute to the church while also preventing others from hearing the good news.
Keeping in mind that we have already been granted authority and power to continue Jesus' works, there is nothing to fear because His Spirit is with us everywhere. Let us learn to walk and work faithfully to proclaim the gospel of the kingdom to all nations and impact every sphere of influence until the end comes.
Ask the Holy Spirit to open your eyes and awaken your heart to the needs and challenges of our city. He will indeed increase your ability to discern the spiritual bondages and societal ills that plagues the lives of many. As you prayerfully love and care for others around you, know that the Spirit of God is at work in them and will give you gifts to do the work He has for you. Sometimes we get to see amazing things, and sometimes we must press in, by the grace of God, for greater things to happen.
It is helpful not to grow weary of doing good since we shall reap a harvest in His time. Just be willing and avail yourself for God’s mission. This starts with trust. Out of that trust, God will give you boldness and confidence as you declare the truth of who He is and the life that only He can give.
