For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV)
If you desire to live an active life of faith, learn to recognise, and obey the guidance of the Holy Spirit. One of His key roles is to bring God’s truth and will to light in a fresh and even exciting way. He will never ask or demand you to do something that contradicts what He has previously stated in the Bible. As such, if you want to become more inclined to hearing the voice of God, you must commit to learning the word of God.
Keep in mind that we read the Bible not to follow more rules, but to develop a more loving and intimate friendship and relationship with God. Some things in the Bible cannot be discovered simply by observation. They must be revealed by the Holy Spirit, who illumines our hearts and brains to persuade and produce the desired outcome in us.
We will hear God speak to us if we make it a habit to listen to what the Spirit says through Scripture. God want to speak to us not because we have earned it through hours upon hours of Bible study, but because He loves us and wants us to walk closely with Him in love and confidence. When we listen to what God says, He will not only direct our way, but He will also bless us and offer us favour and success.
Hearing God grows faith and courage in us, allowing us to overcome the difficulties and sufferings of life. It helps us from overthinking and having wild ideas, as well as keeping our concerns and worries under control. We become spiritually healthy and whole because His Spirit can transform us to be like Jesus in every thought, word, and deed.
