You didn’t receive a spirit of slavery to lead you back again into fear, but you received a Spirit that shows you are adopted as his children. With this Spirit, we cry, “Abba, Father.”

Romans 8:15 (CEB)

If our Christian life becomes about doing rather than being, we miss out on so much of what God wants us to be and become in Christ. Like Jesus, we must learn sonship and in doing so, we will grow well and function well.

Sonship is about our position of relationship with God. This is a privilege accorded to us because of Christ’s perfect sacrifice. Now the Holy Spirit who is also the Spirit of adoption dwells within us to help us live as righteous sons and daughters in the family of God.

When everything we do stems from who we are and what we have in Christ, there is no longer any fear of failure, rejection, or loss. This is because we act and serve with the mind of Christ. It is about connecting with God intentionally and focusing on what He is leading us to do. When we are conscious of our Father God's purpose, there is no limit to what we can accomplish for Him.

We can serve the Lord without knowing the Lord whom we serve.

Without genuine worship and obedience, there is no deepening of faith and increasing of passion. This is why many Christians act and behave like orphans because they feel there is a distance between them and God. But there is no distance at all. We are always united in Christ and united with God through the Holy Spirit who enables us to call upon God as our “Abba, Father.”

Practice the abiding presence of God whenever you can, wherever you are. As you learn to walk in the revelation of your position in Christ, He will help you in finding rest with Him and learning rest from Him.
