The gospel declares that it is for freedom that Christ has set you free.
Galatians 5:1 (NKJV)
Have you ever wondered, if Christ genuinely came to set you free, why don't you always feel it in your daily life? Why do we continue to suffer from the sinful habits we despised and fought against for so long? Why is it so difficult for us to truly experience the complete freedom that we have in Christ?
The freedom Christ won is both absolute and complete. There is nothing more for you to do but accept the truth and put your trust in His finished work. To experience that freedom in Christ, we must first understand what He has accomplished for us through His finished work on the cross. The more we hear it, grasp it, and believe in the truth of His life for each of us, the more we value and apply this freedom in our lives.
For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.
Romans 5:17 (NKJV)
What Christ has done for you outweighs what Adam has done to you.
Your salvation restores the life that God always intended for you. Your rightful calling is to reign over life through Christ. You are empowered by His grace and righteousness to experience freedom in your life, even its challenges. When you lose sight of this revelation, you risk letting negative emotions and wrongful behaviour to take over.
Too often believers seek emotional solutions to their spiritual problems. They would move from one church to another in search of “a deeper experience” rather than living out their true identity as God’s sons and daughters. Spiritual encounters, seminars and sermons are valid if they lead you to Jesus. However, if they drive you to focus on yourself rather than Jesus, the gospel is no longer taught or proclaimed.
Every time you feel defeated by life, remember the truth of the gospel. A personal relationship with Christ enables you to reign over life. Believe in Him, and He will allow you to experience the reality of His grace and righteousness throughout your life.
