We exhorted each one of you and encouraged you and charged you to walk in a manner worthy of God, who calls you into his own kingdom and glory.

1 Thessalonians 2:12 (ESV)

The church is about God's kingdom, which means that every Christ believer should focus his or her heart on partnering with God in His kingdom agenda. We can take a few steps to move forward with God.

The first step is to shift your perspective so that you are focused on eternal things rather than the temporal. Then you will have a stronger sense of purpose, belonging, and connection with God. If you continue to watch the news without placing your faith in God, you will become afraid of everything and feel helpless. Rather, set your eyes and heart on Christ, and you will see life through God's eyes and seek His kingdom. This frees you to live a joyful life in the face of life's trials and tribulations.

The second step is to forsake an unbiblical mindset that separates the "sacred" and the "secular". This false dichotomy suggests that a church-based ministry is more sacred or spiritual than a marketplace ministry. That is why many Christians are so preoccupied with church matters that they do not have time to engage with family and friends who have not heard the gospel at all.

The third step is to dispel the notion that God only chooses "special" people. If we study the Bible thoroughly, we will discover that God calls ordinary people in extraordinary ways for His purpose and glory. If you feel you can't be used by God, you are believing a lie. It is not that you lack a kingdom purpose; rather, you are grappling with your identity in Christ.

The kingdom is already within you. Learn to walk in the truth of your identity in Christ and live accordingly.
