We have the mind of Christ.

1 Corinthians 2:16

We have been given the mind of Christ.

As we walk with His Spirit, we learn to think and act in fresh new ways. While our old mindset keeps us feeling lost, unloved, and unwanted, our new mindset in Christ frees us to perceive new insights and understandings of the gospel that are far beyond our imagination. Unfortunately, like the Corinthians, many of us are captives to our thoughts and old patterns of behaviour. Why is this? This is because we have yet to walk consistently in “newness of life” (Romans 6:4)

Consider what the Apostle Paul wrote in his letter to the Romans:

We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.

Romans 6:4

Walking in the reality of our newness in Christ calls for a reordering of everything we know. We no longer live, think, or act in the same way that we once did. Fear gives way to abiding peace. Worries gives way to unsearchable joy. Doubt gives way to ever-increasing faith. In other words, we no longer think like the world because the renewing work of the Holy Spirit enables us to think with the mind of Christ and act with the heart of God.

We not only think differently, but we also believe and behave differently than before. We may not notice, but others will see something in us that reflects Christ’s life and love. That is what the world needs most right now.
