Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and a report about him went out through all the surrounding country. And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all.
Luke 4: 14-15 (ESV)
How do we know we have the power of the Holy Spirit?
It is when we experience the heightening of energy and eagerness to do the work of God. We will realise right away that God is working with and through us, and everything seems easy and light, and even joyful.
Serving with the Holy Spirit is not stressful or overly demanding.
If the weight of ministry is consuming your passion, remember that it is less about how much you do for God and more about how much you do with God. His Spirit gives us grace and gifts to serve Him and others. Burnout happens when we focus too much on our performance and forgetting the truth of who we are and what we have in Christ.
We are called like Jesus, to live a life beyond self-centeredness and to find purpose and meaning in doing God's will. We will experience the depth of God's love and mighty power as He transforms us and brings us to the fullness of our life in Christ.
It is not more anointing or power we need—rather it is more revelation and understanding of our union in Christ. We already have everything in Christ to live a life that pleases God. The question is, “do we really believe that?” If we genuinely believe and do what the gospel says about us, then faith flows naturally and supernaturally from the Holy Spirit within us to live well and serve well. In other words, everything we do for God is the fruit of a healthy relationship with God.
