When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.

John 16:13-15 (ESV)

Jesus tells us the Holy Spirit guides us into truth.

We are not left alone to figure out how to live the Christian life. Rather, we have the Holy Spirit to help us live out our faith in a way that honours God and exalts Jesus. By revealing and communicating everything we need to know about the Father and the Son, the Holy Spirit enables us to pursue a healthy and harmonious relationship with the Trinity. The more we grow in the revelation and reality of our oneness with God, the more we grow in trust, confidence, and love.

In learning to live our life in the Spirit, we have every advantage to live from the fullness of God Himself. While this fullness surpasses our understanding, it dwells within us so that we might know God and make Him known. We will discover the joy and delight of being children of God Most High because of our intimate connection and communion with the Trinity. Then our countenance and character will reflect that we have been with God, just as God has been with us.

Having been invited and intricately woven into the divine dance, we are no longer mere human beings seeking spiritual experiences, but we have become spiritual beings perfecting our human conditions. Being filled with the Holy Spirit gives us the power and potential to be creative, constructive, and productive, doing good as well as resisting evil. After all, what we receive is not just for ourselves but also for those around us. Then we could truly proclaim the kingdom is “within us” and “among us.”
