Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous! For praise from the upright is beautiful.
Psalm 33:1 (NKJV)
Most of the time, we are more focused on what isn't working out than on what God has already done for us through Christ. Worship, unless done with a thankful heart, is nearly impossible. Gratitude makes worship effortless and more authentic and meaningful. It transforms worship from a routine ritual to an act of love, from formality to expressions of praise and joy. You cannot be truly grateful unless you truly rely on God to provide for you and see you through the difficult times.
David could thank God for everything because he believes in God.
He invited the righteous and upright, as well as those who know God personally, to rejoice in God's word and work. We can worship because God's Word is infallible. God never makes a promise that He cannot or does not intend to keep. He always fulfils His promises in their proper season. We can praise God for both big and small things because God has the power to make everything work together for our good.
There are times when you may find it difficult to trust and thank God because of a devastating experience. While our circumstances may not change overnight and God appears to be absent and silent, be assured that God will never leave or forsake you.
While you wait, God is working to reveal His glory in and through you.
God did not bring the Israelites out of Egypt to drown them in the Red Sea. Rather, God provided a way of salvation that only He can provide. Similarly, God did not simply save us and then abandon us. Rather, God saved us so that He could conform us to the image of Christ and share in His glory. In this sense, God will never quit or give us up, but He will see us through every trial—until we finally reach the gates of heaven.
Choose to focus on God's incredible goodness and thank Him for today's blessings.
