The truth is that, although of course, we lead normal human lives, the battle we are fighting is on the spiritual level. The very weapons we use are not those of human warfare but powerful in God’s warfare for the destruction of the enemy’s strongholds. Our battle is to bring down every deceptive fantasy and every imposing defence that men erect against the true knowledge of God. We even fight to capture every thought until it acknowledges the authority of Christ.

1 Corinthians 10:3-6 (Philips)

The Corinthians is an example of Christians who were led astray by false thinking, which hindered their spiritual growth and effectiveness. This battlefield of the mind, as described by the Apostle Paul, is something we need to be aware of and learn how to fight the good fight of faith. After all, we have been given the mind of Christ, and thus we can repel Satan’s relentless assault on our thinking of who we are and become in Christ.

Believing in the gospel and walking with Jesus daily will transform our mindset from gullibility to being discerning and wise, allowing us to recognise Satan’s schemes and resist them. Victory is ours because our Lord has already won the fight and defeated the devil. Our faith grows stronger with every trial we overcome and every victory we secure in Christ.

Learn to take authority to defeat anything Satan throws at us that contradicts the truth as revealed in the gospel. Talk back to the devil and do not allow him to intimidate you with fear and doubt. Even if you stumble and fall along the way, do not be overcome by condemnation and self-loathing. Find faith again by trusting in God’s perfect love and abundant provision of grace. Then you will rise and take your rightful place as a child of God.
