Worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.

Luke 4:8 (NIV)

Worship affects every aspect of life.

But sometimes we treat worship more as a weekend event than a daily lifestyle. This is because we want a “worship experience” and not a “worship service.” While worship is our genuine response to who God is and what He has done and is doing, service is our sincere offering of ourselves so that God can work in and through us. We learn not only to do good, but most importantly, we also encounter God, who is the source of all goodness and the power to do good.

True worship will ultimately express itself in service — to God and to others.

A lifestyle of worship is one of active faith and practical obedience. It is by abiding in God’s grace and love that we can bless and magnify Him in everything we do. This approach to life flows from a deep desire to live more genuinely and purposefully. When God is central to our being and purpose, we are blessed to be a blessing to each other, as well as to everyone.

Service is an awesome privilege, not an arduous duty.

Christ gave us gifts and graces so that we might bring something good to those around us. So, instead of simply being passive recipients of other people’s talents and abilities, we ourselves become passionate contributors to the transformation of our church, city, and world. This is so important because living a life beyond who we are is what creates eternal impact and significance.
