I, therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
Ephesians 4:1-3 (ESV)
When we place everything in God's hands, we will see God's hands in everything. Thus, there is nothing to fear because we know that God has chosen to be with us regardless of the circumstances. If we keep praying and not lose heart, we will experience an increased sense of faith and courage within us, enabling us to easily overcome any obstacles that may arise. We become resilient and stronger in ways we never imagined, flourishing even during the hardest of time.
Let us take the example of the Apostle Paul. While imprisoned in Rome awaiting his trial, he wrote to encourage the saints on their spiritual journey. Paul did not let his sufferings become an excuse to complain. Rather, he stayed true to the gospel, persuading the people of God to live according to their worthy calling in Christ.
Do not let tough times and troubles make you forget who you are in God, and what He has in store for us. To live worthily is to learn how to live well as a child of God. It is through this sonship in Christ that we are made heirs and co-heirs with Christ. This has been God's amazing plan for us all along.
Experiencing the joy of living well and worthily as God’s chosen sons and daughters enables us to overcome feelings of loneliness, rejection, and abandonment. Then, in whatever seasons of life we are in, we can be confident of God's empowering presence every step of the way.
