But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

2 Corinthians 3:18

It is said that most people can’t walk past a mirror without looking at themselves for a few seconds. Mirrors don’t lie. They truthfully reflect what’s standing in front of them. The Apostle Paul tells us that Jesus is our mirror who truly reflects the person we are in Him.

While a carnival mirror distorts your physical features to make you look funny and distortional. Jesus however mirrors the real you because it is through Him you have been made complete in Him.

What does “complete in Christ” mean?

It is to say that Christ did such a perfect work to save us that He can present us to God without a single fault (Jude 1:24). You cannot be more complete in heaven than you are today. It is not because of what you did but because of what Christ did on your behalf that you can stand right before God without fear or shame. This frees us from the fear that God is looking for reasons to punish us or do anything that would bring us harm or suffering.

Put simply, the Christian life is NOT a journey of you aspiring to become more like Jesus. He is not a goal to pursue, or a standard to live by. If so, the Christian life becomes a journey of a thousand miles without an end in sight. The glory then is about our fleshy achievements, and not His glorious accomplishment in us.

Because Christ has already hidden us within Him, He has moved us from our flawed sense of glory into His perfect and faultless glory. In other words, you are already like Christ when He made you a new creation in Him. However, His presence and power working inside you will cause you to manifest His fullness and glory in every area of your life. As our response to His love, we learn to pursue an authentic life in Christ and allow His grace to transform our hearts to produce fruits of holiness and righteousness.
