When the host tasted the water that had become wine (he didn’t know what had just happened but the servants, of course, knew), he called out to the bridegroom, “Everybody I know begins with their finest wines and after the guests have had their fill brings in the cheap stuff. But you’ve saved the best till now!”
John 2:9-11 (Message)
The first miracle Jesus performed was turning water into wine. The wine was so exquisite that the host wondered why it was saved until last. The first miracle on the Day of Pentecost was that the disciples were so filled with the life of the Spirit that they were accused of intoxicated on fresh wine.
We can see a parallel between these two miracles.
God in Christ enjoys hosting us, and He does not withhold His blessings from us if we are eager to receive them. Most of the time, we believe that we must earn or deserve our blessings through our own good works. If we think like that, we truly frustrate God's grace. This is due to your emphasis on what you accomplish rather than what God has done.
If you are not prepared for God to serve you first, serving others will be difficult. This is because you will view ministry as a "form of tribulation" rather than a celebration of God's abundant love. Unless Peter allowed Jesus to wash his feet, hands, and head, he could not serve others with the same humility and radical posture that our Lord displayed.
Every new move of God always leads to greater Kingdom advancement.
The Reformation brings about a fresh preaching of the gospel and a new proclamation of the gospel to the ends of the earth. We have reached a period in history when our Father God is releasing more sons and daughters to do greater works than we have ever known. Like the wine given at the wedding in Cana, the world will regard us as if God had kept us for our finest hour.
