God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him won’t perish but will have eternal life. God didn’t send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.

John 3:16-17 (CEB)

God has chosen us in Christ before the creation of the world.

His desire is for all to be saved, and none to perish. The Greek word for perish is apollumi, which means “to lose, or to be lost.” In the context of John 3:16, the term perishing refers to a spiritual separation rather than a physical termination of life. Perishing is essentially living a life without God, which results in a sense of alienation and emptiness. There is a spiritual void that only God can fill.

God wants no one to perish but to enjoy a genuine relationship with Him.

Many, however, are perishing or lost right now. Though they are alive, they are not living with eternity perspective in their hearts. Unless they come to a saving knowledge of Jesus, they will stay lost and separated from God.

The gospel message is simple. It only becomes complicated when we add or remove anything from what God has done for us through Christ. When we remain true to the gospel, we shall see and experience God’s transforming power in many great and incredible ways. Instead of perishing, we would have God’s eternal life working in and through us. Thus, every day we should enjoy and connect God, living out our divine destiny through His grace and love.
