"(Abraham) did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. And therefore “it was accounted to him for righteousness.”
Romans 4:20-22 (NKJV)
I always thank God for prayers answered and unanswered.
Knowing that He is our Righteous Father, God will never do anything that could harm us or cause our prayers to hurt others. We must take comfort in knowing that God will do us right even when we do not always see the big picture.
Living in an age of entitlement, where it is almost a right to have things done our way or at our own pace, it is becoming increasingly difficult for many believers to focus on God's righteous character and walk by faith.
According to the Apostle Paul, Abraham did not waver in his faith, but was fully convinced that God would perfectly fulfil His promise — not because of his physical ability, but because of the strength of His divine character. Even though circumstances appeared to indicate otherwise, Abraham maintained his faith in God. For this reason, God counted Abraham as righteous before Him and acknowledged him as "the father of faith" (Romans 4:16), and His blessing to Abraham is still felt today.
Do not be discouraged if you believe God is not hearing your prayers. Our frustration with God's apparent silence and slowness demonstrates that we do not understand the importance of prayer. We often expect quick results from our prayers. The truth is that we want God to align with our tight schedule and timing rather than us walking in faith all the time.
Abraham's life story teaches us an important truth: God will fulfil His promises, but He will also prepare us to receive them. God often uses the platform of prayer to prepare us for what is to come. Take comfort in the now and the not-yet.
