Christ himself carried our sins in his body to the cross, so that we might die to sin and live for righteousness. It is by his wounds that you have been healed.
1 Peter 2:24 (GNT)
We have all experienced brokenness, both personally and communally. Our families are fractured, our churches are divided, and our cities are filled with strife and injustice. Much of our wounds and traumas reveals our disconnectedness with God. This is why we are all inflicting and being inflicted in return.
The gospel comes with the promise that God will make us whole again.
No matter who has hurt us or how deep our wounds may be, we must learn to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. Healing and wholeness belong to us because of what Christ accomplished for us. They are not goals to be reached, but new creation realities to live by.
We need to recognise that God is concerned with our well-being. His desire is for us to flourish in spirit, soul and body. This calls for us to ask God and invite Him to touch us where we are most hurting. Sometimes our healing takes only a few moments, but other times it is a lifelong process. Jairus’ daughter came back to life after being dead for a while, but it took forty years for the blind man to see.
When we surrender our ways and embrace the mystery of God’s way, we can rest well in His perfect love that work all things for our good and His glory. As we experience His healing in our brokenness and His freedom in our bondage, we break the cycle of our old pains to appreciate His power and presence who dwells within us. As a result, we find new courage and strength for each new day, and therefore, the opportunity to become all we can be in Christ.
