What you think of God defines your relationship with Him.

You cannot create an image of God based on your own prejudices, feelings, or experiences. You must base your understanding of God on the biblical revelation of who He is and what He has done for you.

We know God is love [1 John 4:10], and He loves us. However, some believers question God's love for them since they never felt it. Somehow, they make their feelings more important than the truth. God is the Spirit, and He is ever-present with us, whether we realise it or not.

Consider these words of the Apostle Paul:

But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us.

Ephesians 2:4 (NKJV)

Paul reminds us that God lavishes His great mercy on us because of His immense and profound love for us, and it gives Him pleasure to do so. Nothing better defines His love for you more than the Cross of Jesus Christ. What is your response then? According to Jude, we are to “keep ourselves in the love of God” (Jude 1:21).

The Greek word for “keep” is tēreō which means “to stay in the state in which you are in.” God’s love does not change like the weather. Stay rooted in His love amid life's roaring storms and trials. God's love will shine through our darkest nights and saddest days, since they can never dim or diminish His love, which is from everlasting to everlasting.
