Love overlooks the mistakes of others, but dwelling on the failures of others devastates friendships.
Proverbs 17:9 (TPT)
Forgiveness is the greatest test of any friendship.
All of us have those disappointing moments when friends let us down or completely forsake us. Some may choose to end the friendship without telling you or giving you an explanation. This can leave you confused and hurt.
Some friends may behave this way because they lack the maturity and capacity to establish a healthy relationship with you. They lack the courage to cope with the discomfort of their feelings or your emotions, or they may be unaware of the impact of their actions on you. Worse, they don't seem to care.
Learn to accept that when friends choose to move on without telling you, they are choosing themselves over you. As difficult as it may be, pray for the grace to forgive and release the pain you are carrying inside to find peace.
Maintain your focus on the things that make you a great friend to others. As much as you don't want others to remind you of everything you have ever done wrong, don't do the same with them. Obviously, we must correct our friends for their own good at times. However, please forgive them first before you act—this is to ensure that your intent is correct.
All relationships are prophetic.
How we perceive our friends determines the friendship we will have with them. Always choose to think the best of people, and you will both grow them and yourself. By learning to speak life from God's Word to one another, we can become the healthiest versions of ourselves.
