We will meet people who loves to boast about their self-importance and achievements. Clearly as believers this is not how we should behave.

Love does not boast.

1 Corinthians 13:4 (NKJV)

The Greek word for “boast” is “perpereuomai” which means which means "excessive embellishment.” This is not something we see in Jesus. He was so humble and loving that He made Himself nothing and gave up everything to save us (Philippians 2:6-9). (cf. Philippians 2:6-9). Because Jesus served in such a lowly and humble manner, God honoured Him with the Name that is above all names.

While His disciples argued over who was the greatest among them, Jesus never once claimed credit for everything He had accomplished. He always honoured His heavenly Father. We must learn from Jesus the meaning of true greatness. It is never about lording over others, but about serving and putting them first (Luke 22:26).

Learn to be humble and thankful and avoid bragging about yourself. The Apostle Peter tells us that “God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.” (1 Peter 5:5) God gives grace and promotion to the humble, not the proud.

There is no reason to bring attention to yourself when you are secured in God’s perfect love. This frees you from the fear of being forgotten or overlooked. When you learn to seek God and delight in His ways, He will honour you with the desires of your heart. You have no fear or regrets because you know how much He loves you.
