God didn’t send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.
John 3:17 (CEB)
God did not send Jesus to condemn us, but to save us.
While we rightly deserve judgment for our sins, God in His mercy did not count our sin against us. Rather, God chose to show grace so that we could be reconciled with Him. It is good that God acts as both the initiator and recipient of this reconciliation, as we lack the ability or strength to save ourselves. Being included and incorporated into Christ’s finished work enables us to approach God with confidence and hope.
Any thoughts and feelings of fear, guilt and condemnation are lies of the Enemy. This creates a sense of alienation, hostility, and separation, leaving us feeling unloved or unwanted by God. We will never lose our position in Christ, but we will lose our joy and peace if we do not continue to walk in the revelation of God’s perfect love.
As we gear towards Christmas, it is worth remembering why Jesus, being God, took on human flesh. The Apostle Paul tells us, “God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself” (2 Corinthians 5:19) and He does it by making salvation, forgiveness, and eternal life possible through Jesus Christ.
Indeed, we must look to Jesus alone for our salvation and trust in Him who is able to save to the uttermost. Only then will we experience freedom—freedom from sin, freedom to love God, freedom for righteous living.
This freedom is freely given and is freely received. There should be no reason for anyone to qualify themselves because God has already qualified everyone through Christ for salvation. God will not only save us, but He will secure and sustain our salvation forever.
