Likewise, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

Romans 8:26-27 (ESV)

The Holy Spirit works in us to make our prayers effective.

Many times, we believe our prayers are incomplete or insufficient. However, according to the Apostle Paul, the Holy Spirit is our perfect prayer whisperer because He not only intercedes for us, but also teaches us how to pray. He enables us to pray according to God’s will by revealing the truth of who we are as children of God in Christ. Thus, we should never feel unqualified or unworthy to pray.

We pray not because God do not know our needs, but because we have not expressed them. Expressing what is in our hearts demonstrates our faith and confidence in God. We know God hears our prayers because we belong to Him, and we are always safe in His hands.

When we pray according to our identity rather than our needs, we grow in faith and hope, not fearing what lies ahead because we know God is always with us. While some prayers are difficult to express in words, the Spirit can translate our deep spiritual longings and yearnings for God to weave His purpose and work His wonders into our circumstances.

Being able to pray with the Holy Spirit is one of the greatest gifts of grace God could give us. What a privilege that the Trinity helps us in our prayer life, encouraging us to pray not only for our needs but also for our growth.
