Even though Jesus was God’s Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered. In this way, God qualified him as a perfect High Priest, and he became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey him.
Hebrews 5:8-9 (NLT)
When the author of Hebrews says that Jesus "learnt obedience," he is referring to His shameful suffering on the Cross. In other words, Jesus obeyed for our sake and in our place, and because of His perfect obedience, we who believe are just as righteous and holy as He is. This means the Christian life is not trying to be holy but living from the reality that Christ is our Holiness.
We are already in a perfect relationship with God because of Christ, and thus we don’t have to work to earn God's favour or acceptance.
The peace we inherited from Jesus serves as the foundation for everything good and right between us and God. With our salvation is completed rooted in Jesus’ obedience, His Spirit within us enables us to produce fruits of obedience. This means our obedience is not the basis of our relationship with God, but the overflow of His grace working in and through us.
If you desire to be more obedient to the Lord, learn to be a worshipper of God before you even think about being a worker for God. Then obedience becomes easy because we are doing everything out of love and not out of fear.
