But now, being made free from sin and having become servants of God, you have your fruit of sanctification and the result of eternal life.
Romans 6:22 (WEB)
Christ calls Christians to set aside their selfish desires and embrace a life that is fully surrendered to Him. In doing so, we do not lose freedom but discover it.
What we thought was freedom was really slavery to our own sinful desires and self-destructiveness. But now, being freed from sin, we are bonded to God and set apart by God to do what pleases Him. As we focus on Christ in whatever we do, we will flourish with the same mind as Christ and be like Him in every way.
Being justified and sanctified in Christ enables us to stay faithful and fruitful for His glory. This is because God’s ultimate purpose is for us to grow into the fullness of Christ. It comes by practicing intimacy and pursuing a deeper understanding of the reality of our union in Christ.
We who belong to Christ is in union with Him.
His Spirit in us enables us to understand ourselves in the light of our new identity. The things of your past no longer define you. Being made a new creation in Christ’s righteousness means you are as free as Christ has made you to be in Him. Instead of hiding your shame and wondering if you are worthy of God's love, learn to live free and unafraid. This will change the way you serve and care for others.
Everything you do is for the best interest of those around you. There is no hidden agenda or selfish intention. Rather, you are open-hearted and generous, loving, embracing, and accepting. This is because you are experiencing an exceptional freedom of Christ working out His life in and through you.
