You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
2 Timothy 3:15-16 (NLT)
We live such hectic lives, and quite often, our faith is often something that fits in our schedule rather than core to everything we are and all that we do. God should not compete for time and attention. Rather, He deserves first place in our lives, and as we rightly honour God for who He is and for what He has done, we are creating opportunities and space for God to do deeper things within us.
We are living in a time when many are content with their shallow faith in God and are unwilling to invest time and focus in order to enjoy a deep relationship with Him. They want a faith that complements their lifestyle rather than confront how they live for God and put into practice what they learned and received from God.
Jesus exemplifies what it is to know and love God as He truly is. He spent more time praying than he did ministry. His constant communion with God enables Him to serve from a place of rest. In other words, Jesus was never as busy as he was fruitful. As we follow Jesus we want to learn to know the Father and allow Him to do His perfect work in us.
God only has one thing in His mind: that we fully conformed to the image and likeness of His Son. This means we must be intentional about our spiritual growth and let God’s power and presence take hold of us. It is about renewing our minds in the truth of who we are and what we have in Christ. The process involves taking the gospel seriously and challenging any selective or simplistic representations of faith that are often found in shallow understanding or even incorrect, unbiblical thinking.
Consider the Apostle Paul’s advice to Timothy. We must never outgrow our love of God and His Word. Study God’s Word diligently so that you are not deceived by every wind of doctrine but stay steadfast in your Christian walk.
