I am confident of this, that the one who began a good work in you will continue to complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.
Philippians 1:6 (NRV)
If we are unworthy to earn salvation, what makes us believe we are worthy to sustain it? This is so important, because our Christian life is not something we can attain or maintain on our own. Instead, we need fresh empowerment and grace from the Holy Spirit to help us live in conformity to the will and ways of Christ. Then, not only will we find new heights of faith and joy in the Lord, but we also enjoy a life of obedience and service to the Lord.
Our salvation in Christ is sure and steadfast, eternal, and blessed.
Now that we have a taste of the kingdom through our new life in Jesus, we live and spread the good news about God's incredible power and presence wherever we go. Having been given so much, we give ourselves. As we work out our salvation, we will realise that is the Spirit in us who does the working. It is He who enlightens and energises us towards holiness and purpose. Then, we can reach out in simple trust and take each step by faith, knowing that God will complete the work He started in us.
If your Christian life appears to be a struggle at times, please remember that there is nothing wrong with you because you are already a new creation in Christ. Rather, there is something missing in your experience of God’s grace. Rather than feeling condemned as if you don’t measure up, focus on Jesus rather than yourself. Our Lord is more than enough to complete what is missing in your experience in Him and carry you through every test of faith.
The same grace that saves you is the same grace that sustains you.
