And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
Ephesians 3:18-19 (NLT)
There will always be temptations, but we are not weak because the Spirit lives in us and gives us the grace and strength to overcome them. Thus, if we continue to sin, it is not because we are weak, but because we have forsaken our love for God. This truth is not meant to condemn us, but to confront us that we have forgotten who we are and have become in Christ.
God can make up for what we lack.
We only need to acknowledge our need and pray for more grace to love God as He deserves to be loved. We love God because He first loved us. Keep this mind that God's love is inextricably woven into our identity and purpose through His Spirit. So, if we sense we “lack” love, it is not because it is not in us; rather we need to rekindle that love by hearing the gospel over and over again. If we truly grasped the gospel, we would truly desire to love God above everything else.
There is nothing wrong with our relationship with God now that we are new creations in Christ. But there may be something missing from our experience with Him. This is why we pursue holiness and righteousness so that God's love can continue to flow in and through us in greater measure.
