That night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified, but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people.

Luke 2:8-10 (NLT)

The shepherds were the first to hear the good news about Jesus’ birth. Imagine their fear when they saw the throng of angels singing with jubilation. An angel assured them not to be afraid, but to rejoice over the good news for all people.

Everyone is included in God's salvation plan.

God, in Christ, has reconciled the world to Himself, not imputing their sin against them, but imputing their sin to Christ. Such is our Father's love for everyone, whether they seek him or not. Thus, like the shepherds, we must behold Jesus and proclaim the good news about Him to others. It is important they know that God is not against them, but for them.

Many have not heard the good news, but we have the privilege and opportunity to share our testimony and thank God for saving us. We don’t have to know everything before we share Jesus with others. Rather we trust His Holy Spirit to work in us to do everything He desires. Make this Christmas a blessed Christmas for someone. Just learn to be faithful, and God will use our faithfulness to bless others and bring glory to Him.
