"Here I am! Send me."
Isaiah 6:9 (NKJV)
We do not worship to feel closer to God. We worship because we are close to God. Worship is the fruit of a genuine and authentic relationship with God. As a result, true worship is not dependent on physical location or musical style. It is based on a sincere desire to magnify God and exalt His name.
The more we understand the beauty of God's nature and character through worship, the more we will be transformed into the likeness of Him. This transformation not only changes us, but it also has a positive impact on how we relate to and interact with others. In other words, our worship blesses both God and others.
If worship does not open our eyes to see clearly God's heart for people, it is merely a self-aggrandizing gesture. Keep in mind that worship is not about us. It starts and ends with God. When the Prophet Isaiah worshipped God, he had a glorious vision of God's glory, which inspired him to offer himself to God for service. He said, "Here I am! "Send me." (Isaiah 6:9)
The impact of true worship shifts our focus the worship of self to the worship of God, from consumer to contributor of righteousness in both public and private spheres of life. As a result, we worship God all the time, not just in church or on special occasions.
When we are constantly in awe of the amazing mystery of the gospel and the splendour of our Lord Jesus Christ, worship becomes a continuous experience of God's grace in and through our lives.
