Our greatest ignorance is the failure to recognise that Christ provides everything we require for a full and purposeful life, both now and forever. When we don't appreciate what we already have in the Lord, our prayers turn into pleas for more anointing, power, or faith. Our desperation may lead us to make fruitless self-efforts to obtain something from God when, in fact, He has already freely given us everything through Christ.

Instead of praying for more power, let us pray for more wisdom and revelation to comprehend the power that is already available to us. This was how the Apostle Paul worded his prayer when he was praying for the Ephesians:

I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance. 19 I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honour at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.

Ephesians 1:18-20 (NLT)

The gospel doesn't need to be "re-invented"—all we have to do is rediscover the truth for ourselves. Paul specifically prayed to God to make it clear to the church that they have access to the same power God used to raise Jesus from the dead. Because God gave Jesus the seat of honour in heaven, and we are seated with Him we have a wealth of heavenly resources that far exceed anything we could possibly need to live a life that pleases God.

Know the truth of the gospel and you shall be set free.

Don't let your feelings determine whether you are right with God. Instead, discard all fault-finding thoughts through a continuous renewing of your mind with the truth of your identity and inheritance in Christ.
