Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”

Isaiah 30:21 (NIV)

Some believers assume God micromanages their every move. As a result, they need multiple confirmations from God before acting. While they may appear sincere, they are struggling in their faith and finding it hard to obey.

While God may have clear plans for our lives, we must avoid the traps of overthinking and constant second-guessing. According to the Prophet Isaiah, God wants us to exercise our free will as we take steps of faith. God’s plan is not like driving a straight road without changing lanes or taking a different route. Whether we to turn right or left, we may rest on God to direct and guide us through His Spirit and Scripture. We may face setbacks and even stumble, but God has already considered these things. If we persevere, we may be confident that God will work everything out for our good and His glory.

Knowing that you are in Christ means you are already in God's will. Do not be afraid to make mistakes as you figure out the finer details of God’s will for your life. Mistakes remain mistakes unless you are humble and teachable enough for God to transform them into incredible learning opportunities. You will continue to encounter the same doubts and fears if you refuse to change your attitude towards God.

Prior to entering the Promised Land of Canaan, the children of Israel refused to follow God's leading in Kadesh Barnea. As a result, they roamed for the next forty years before God brought them back to the same location. This time, however, they were prepared to obey God and take possession of the land.

Learn to rest in the truth that God is at work within you, giving you the will and the power to do what pleases Him (Philippians 2:13). Walking in the rhythm of God's grace frees you from the fear of being out of God's will and succumbing to your self-effort ways of achieving things on your own.
