You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
2 Timothy 3:15-16 (NLT)
Many Christians are comfortable with their shallow faith and are unwilling to devote time and focus to enjoy a deep relationship with God. They want a faith that suits their lifestyle rather than one that causes to living fully in Christ.
Jesus exemplifies what it is to know and love God as He truly is. He spent more time praying than doing ministry. His ongoing communion with God enables Him to serve from a place of rest. In other words, Jesus was never as busy as he was fruitful. As we follow Jesus, we experience a greater longing to know the Father and allow Him to complete what He has begun.
God only has one thing in His mind: that we fully conformed to the image and likeness of His Son. This means we must be intentional about our spiritual growth and let God’s power and presence take hold of us. It is about renewing our minds in the truth of who we are and what we have in Christ. The process involves taking the gospel seriously and challenging any selective or simplistic representations of faith that are often found in shallow understanding or even incorrect, unbiblical thinking.
God wants us to perfectly conform to the image and likeness of His Son. This means we must be intentional about our spiritual growth and allow God's empowering presence to take hold of us. It is about renewing our minds with the reality of who we are and what we have in Christ. The process entails taking the gospel seriously and being freed from superficial, unbiblical thinking.
Consider Apostle Paul's counsel to Timothy. We must never lose our love for God and His Word. Study God's Word diligently so that you are not deceived or fooled by “every wind of doctrine” and can remain steadfast in your Christian life.
