Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
Matthew 7:24 (ESV)
Hearing God is simple, but obeying is difficult.
Many of us are not taught how to respond to God's word—or how each word prepares us for the present season and the coming season. Jesus promised His disciples that if they listen to Him and do what He says, they will have wisdom in all situations and the confidence to confront life's obstacles. The storms of life will put your faith to the test. However, if you build your life in Jesus, the Living Word of God, you will be able to thrive and stand firm amid adversity and conflict because He has already secured your victory by His finished work.
Keep an eye out for any obstacles that may be preventing you from hearing God. It could be a lack of patience in waiting for the Holy Spirit to reveal more of God's heart through His Word, or a loss of wonder and awe in the gospel of God’s grace.
God called many people in the Bible, but before He could use them in any way, He had to teach them crucial lessons of obedience until they truly trust God that nothing could separate them from His love. This sense of belonging and trust is essential if they are to love and serve God well.
Walking in the truth of God's word powerfully awakens faith in you, allowing you to believe and trust God. When God in Christ is the Source and Provider of your faith, anything is possible. The more you understand and value your relationship with Christ, the stronger your faith will become. How strong? When your faith is no longer a battle or struggle, but rather a rest in God’s everlasting love for you. It might happen right now. The only thing to do is to agree with God and see yourself as He sees you.
