Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means ‘God is with us.’
Matthew 1:23 (NLT)
On this glorious Christmas morning, we join all Christians from around the world to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. While there is no record of Jesus' birth on December 25, we do have enough historical evidence and well-authenticated sources to conclude that Jesus came into our world and tabernacled among us.
Christmas is God's way of saying that He is with us and for us. This is why Jesus is called Immanuel. His first coming demonstrates that God is actively involved in His world. God in Christ took on our human flesh—the Incarnation—so that God could meet our human needs and sufferings in a real, not magical, way.
Not all our problems are resolved when we first believe, but as we follow Jesus, He will help us conquer and overcome them. So, our joy is not fixed on circumstances and situations, but rather on the One who will never forget or forsake us. Instead of being afraid or discouraged, let the empowering presence of Jesus renew your hope and joy this Christmas.
On behalf of the Firstlight Church and my family, we want to wish you the joy that Jesus brings to the world.
