I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
Galatians 2:20 (NKJV)
The loving union we have in Christ gives us a sure and secure standing before God, both now and forever. We are not saved to become better people, but to be made into new creations in Christ. Our past no longer defines us or controls us. We instead follow Christ in a new way of life and thinking. Like the Apostle Paul, we must learn to live in our new-found reality in Christ. It is to take steps to deepen our understanding of our identity and life in Christ so that we can reflect Him in everything we say and do.
Being crucified in Christ means no longer living for ourselves, but for Him.
We can only follow Jesus if we are willing to change our way of life and priorities. If we are struggling, it is not a faith issue, but rather a love problem. Nothing should remain the same now that Jesus is our sovereign Lord and Saviour. The distance we feel between God and ourselves is an unreliable reflection of our feelings. If left unchecked, it will result in doubt, fear, and unbelief. He who is in us will never forsake or forget us.
We are to renew our minds and draw close to God because He has already drawn near to us through Christ. With this in mind, you can live in the fullness of His resurrection life.
