Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?
Matthew 8:26 (NKJV)
Fear is the surrender to adversity; faith is the triumph over it.
One thing Jesus' disciples had to learn over and over was to never let their fearful feelings get in the way of trusting Him. We are exactly like them. We are frequently afraid because we do not fully trust in His grace. We become more concerned with being saved from difficult situations than with always placing our faith in the Saviour.
Being fearful will not make your life better or easier. You can never get rid of your worries. If you keep your gaze fixed on your fears, you will only become more doubtful and less certain of the future. Only through faith in the Lord were the disciples transformed from cowards to conquerors, fearful men to fearless men, and half-hearted followers to wholehearted believers.
Faith lessons are profound and long-lasting.
Knowing your identity in Christ gives you the ability to grow in faith. Faith allows you to connect with God, who makes everything possible, even when it appears impossible. Faith is your most powerful weapon against limiting or diminishing who you truly are in Christ. Rather than allowing fear to work against your true sense of self, faith frees you from the chains of sin, guilt, and shame, allowing you to actively participate with God in growing a healthy spiritual life.
Growth occurs only when you choose to fully and freely embrace the life that reflects God's faithfulness and unchanging nature. Believers who find it hard to trust God are often not living in accordance with who they are and what they have in Christ. Take the path of trusting God if you want to grow deeper in your identity or more clarity about your purpose.
Genuine Christian living is based on trusting God. It is to be Jesus, just as He trusted His Father on earth. Jesus relied on the Father's love to keep His identity and purpose consistent. Jesus was never lost in this way because He knew who He was and is. This is everything God ever desired for you.
