Do not keep silent, O God! Do not hold Your peace, and do not be still, O God!
Psalms 83:1 (NKJV)
The Psalmist expresses the helplessness we feel when God doesn't seem to be answering our prayers. Too often when God is silent, we assume He is uncaring and unloving, which makes us question His competence and compassion. Instead of having such a dark picture of God, learn to recognize what His silence is saying to you.
When God is silent and not answering you, He does not do it for His own amusement. Rather He does so in order to grow your perspective so that your relationship with Him does not revolve around your schedule but rather His “kairos” timing. If you fight against what God has for you in each season of your life, you will not be able to enjoy the fruit of His work because it involves your trust and obedience.
We often forget just how much God loves us and that everything He is doing is for our good and His glory.
God's silence is not meant to be a roadblock that keeps us from moving forward, but rather an opportunity to trust that He has a far better and greater purpose in store for you. Walking in the light of this truth enables us to fully surrender to God because we are confident in His ability and His ever-watchful eye on us.
We can learn a crucial lesson from Abraham's life: the more we try to rush God, the more we impede him. Abraham created an Ishmael when he got impatient and couldn’t wait. But Abraham became the father of many countries when he learned to lean on God’s timing.
God's silence reveals our level of faith or our level of frustration. Both faith and frustration reveal and clarify the truth of our relationship with God, however, one is based on trust and confidence, and the other is born out of need and desperation.
If God is silent right now, just focus on your response.
Don’t be afraid. Be patient and take courage, be assured that God knows where He is taking you—to bless you, and not to hurt you.
